Colds and flu are both viral infections, but have different symptoms. With a cold you will have symptoms such as a runny nose or a sore throat while flu symptoms come on suddenly and may include fever, body aches or vomiting.
With no cure in sight for the cold or the flu, over-the-counter treatments can at best bring symptom relief.
Once you or your child has contracted these illnesses, there are a lot of natural options that can shorten the duration and may help you feel better along the way.
Below is a cough recipe you could simply make at home.
Ingredients:
– 1 onion
– 2 cups of water
– 1 lemon (juice)
– 2 tbs. of honey
Directions:
1. Bring water to boil.
2. Cut the onion into pieces and boil them for 15 minutes.
3 Remove the onions from heat and leave it for 10 minutes.
4. Strain the mixture, add 2 tbs. of honey and mix well.
5. Add the lemon juice.
It is recommended to drink this mixture 3 times a day.
